Who is the course aimed at?
All staff and volunteers working in social care, health, housing, charities and other areas of the independent sector
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Define who might be an adult with care and support needs
- Identify relevant Legislation, Guidance and Policy & Principles
- State the 10 categories of abuse & identify examples and indicators.
- Explain your responsibility to prevent abuse and neglect
- Describe how you would respond if you became aware of abuse
- Outline how you would raise a Safeguarding Concern with the Local Authority
- State your role in relation to whistleblowing
- Identify other public protection reporting processes
The Safeguarding Adults Awareness course aligns with the Level 3 learning objectives in the intercollegiate document (ICD) (Adult Safeguarding: Roles and Competencies for Health Care Staff) and therefore contributes to health professionals’ compliance with the ICD standards.
