Claire Skelton

Director

I began my career in social care working within local authority commissioning teams, supporting social services to secure the right care for those who needed it most. That early experience gave me a strong understanding of how services are shaped and delivered, and I later moved into frontline social work teams, helping people access care packages and care home placements.

In 2015, I joined Choices as a Placement Coordinator, where I was responsible for making sure care homes and supported properties were operating at capacity and meeting the needs of residents. Over time, my role evolved into Performance Compliance Manager, where I focused on monitoring and improving the quality of services across learning disability care homes and extra care housing. I also gained hands-on management experience as the Registered Manager for a specialist dementia care home – an incredibly rewarding role that deepened my understanding of person-centred care.

Since 2021, I’ve been Head of Care Operations at Housing Plus Group. I oversaw a diverse portfolio that included supported housing for adults with learning disabilities, extra care housing and care, and residential care homes. My work was all about delivering high-quality, person-centred services that enable people to live with dignity, independence, and choice.

Most recently I became Director for Care and Support Service Development at Housing Plus Group with a key focus on the strategic development of service delivery and digital transformation.

I’m passionate about empowering the workforce, creating meaningful development opportunities for staff, and making sure our services are financially sustainable. At the heart of it all is a commitment to delivering positive social impact and lasting value for the communities we serve.
