Director
I am a Shropshire girl, born and bred, and for most of my professional career I have worked in the Shropshire area. I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1980 and specialised in community nursing. I led a team of district nurses in South Telford for many years, before moving to a Senior Lecturer post at Staffordshire University. I remained in education for five years and then returned to community nursing in a Community Matron role.
My career in social care commenced in 2007 when I worked as a Lead Nurse for care homes across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin. This was a very innovative role, supporting care homes with clinical education, quality improvement and admissions avoidance. During this time, I worked very closely with Partners in Care.
In 2016 I moved to Derwen College in Oswestry and work as Director of Care & Independence and Nominated Individual. Derwen College is a residential college for young people with learning difficulties. My role involves the leadership and management of the Care, Nursing and Therapy teams.
In my spare time I am a keen runner and a member of Lawley Running Club in Telford. One day I would like to run the London Marathon! I also volunteer for the running club as female Welfare Officer and Mental Health First Aider. As well as running, I also enjoy walking our Bearded Collie, Dottie.
I am very passionate about social care and look forward to working with Partners in Care and its members.
