The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is named after Oliver McGowan, whose death shone a light on the need for health and social care staff to have better training.
The Health and Care Act 2022 introduced a requirement that all CQC registered service providers must ensure their staff have training on learning disability and autism that is appropriate to their role. The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is the Government’s preferred and recommended training for health and social care staff to undertake.
Partners in Care is working with First Response Training to deliver mandatory Oliver McGowan training for our members. Courses will take place online for Tier 1 training. Tier 2 training is available face to face at Telford Fire Station, Stafford Park 1, Telford TF3 3BW and The Lantern Centre, Meadow Farm Drive, Shrewsbury SY1 4NG, with a view to offering this training in Cheshire in the future.
The previous Oliver McGowan training offers (Tier 1 and Tier 2), via Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin ICS have now ceased.
