Who is the course for

Those working in health and social care who are involved in direct care, care planning and/or administration, and those completing the Care Certificate.

Course Aims

The learner will gain an understanding of the ways of working and legislation regarding accessing, recording, storing, and sharing of information.

The course covers a range of learning outcomes from the Care Certificate Standard 14:Handling Information

At the end of this course all learners will be able to:

1. Explain why it is important to have secure systems for accessing, recording, storing and sharing information
2. State why it is important to keep records that are up to date, complete, accurate and legible
3. Recognise risks in handling information
4. Describe what is meant by data breach
5. Explain what to do if:
• agreed ways of working and legislation have not been followed
• there has been a data breach or risk to data security
