Who is the course for

Those working in health and social care who are involved in direct care or care planning, and those completing the Care Certificate.

Course aims

The learner will gain an understanding of the importance of equality, diversity and human rights, and the impact these have on service users and the social care workforce.

The course covers a range of learning outcomes from the Care Certificate Standard 4:Equality, diversity, inclusion and human rights

At the end of this course all learners will be able to:

1. Explain what is meant by

• Equality
• Diversity
• Inclusion
• Human rights

2. State the 9 protected characteristics of the Equality Act
3. Explain what is meant by bias and discrimination
4. Describe how discrimination can occur in the workplace
5. Understand how to reduce the likelihood of discrimination
6. Identify and describe national and local legislation, policies and practices
7. Recognise discrimination
8. Challenge in a way that promotes positive change
9. Identify where, how and when to go for advice and support
