Who is the course aimed at?
Anyone wanting to gain an essential workplace First Aid Qualification.
To successfully complete the course and be awarded a certificate, participants will need to be able to work at floor level and successfully demonstrate placing a simulated casualty into an effective recovery position, and at least two minutes of CPR, in accordance with guidelines issued by the Resuscitation Council of the United Kingdom.

Understand the role and responsibility of a First Aider.
Be able to assess the scene of an incident.
Be able to assess a casualty and identify the best treatment or source of further assistance.
Be able to provide First Aid to an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally, including a practical demonstration of the recovery position*.
Be able to manage a casualty who is in seizure.
Be able to manage a casualty who is unresponsive and not breathing normally, including a practical demonstration of CPR* and the use of an AED* (defibrillator).
Be able to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking.
Manage a casualty with external bleeding, including head wounds, embedded objects and catastrophic bleeding, with a practical demonstration of applying a dressing to a wound*.
Manage a casualty who is in shock.
Understand how to manage a casualty with a minor injury.
Understand how to manage a casualty with minor burns and scalds.
