Who is the course aimed at?
This course is aimed at experienced/senior staff in adult social care settings wanting to train colleagues in their own setting in Moving & Handling. You must deliver training using the training pack provided by Partners in Care and only train the workforce within your own organisation.
On completion of the training and to maintain your skills and knowledge you are required complete 6 hours CPD in Moving and Handling per year; if this standard is not met you should not continue to deliver training.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Learners must be appropriately dressed to attend Moving and Handling training, for example, clothing should be comfortable and provide ease of movement, short skirts should be avoided.
Open toed shoes MUST NOT be worn due to the high risk of foot injury, learners wearing open toed shoes WILL NOT be allowed to participate and your employer will still be charged as it will be marked as a non-attendance.
Course objectives
At the end of the course the learner will be able to:
- Understand, demonstrate and deliver basic Moving and Handling theory and practice
- Understand and explain what makes successful learning
- Apply teaching theory to the delivery of Moving and Handling theory and practice
- Understand and explain how the laws, legislation and ethical frameworks apply to moving and handling of people within Health and Social care
- Understand, explain and carry out basic risk assessments for Moving and Handling using the ergonomic assessment tool TILEO
- Understand how to deliver Moving and Handling training and assess learners of varying levels, from novice to expert
