Adult Safeguarding – Developing a Positive Safeguarding Culture     

 Course Aims: This course aims to consider how, in order to deliver ‘good safeguarding practice’ the development of a positive safeguarding culture is key and what this might involve.

By the end of the session, you will be able to:

•          Define what ‘culture’ is

•          Describe how the role of individuals in an organisation contributes to the culture

•          Identify the ‘ingredients’ of a safeguarding culture

•          Describe what a ‘closed culture’ is and the risks associated with closed cultures 

•          Recognise the importance of embedding key safeguarding principles

•          State how policy, procedure and processes contribute to and maintain a positive culture

•          Identify the role of recruitment processes in developing a safeguarding culture

•          Identify relevant guidance to support the development of a positive culture  

•          Describe how an organisation can embed a ‘Listening, Leading and Learning’ model
