Who is the course aimed at?
Direct care staff in health & social care settings and the independent sector
Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) were implemented in 2009. Providing a legal framework to recognise restrictions in place for an individual who lacks capacity to consent and apply for authorisation of these where required.
Learning objectives:
Explore the concept of liberty and raise understanding of restrictions in relation to DoLS
Examine levels of restrictions and recognise where changes may be required
Gain knowledge around the "Acid Test" in practice
Be aware of the requirement of referral and authorisation process
Understand the legal right to challenge
Please note that learners should have attended an MCA course or have a working knowledge of MCA before booking on to the DoLS course
