CPI’s Essential Care and Support™: Speciality Training provides care staff with the knowledge and skills to use planned interventions when providing essential care activities in a safe and legally compliant manner.

CPI will train your staff and equip them with the necessary tools to effectively teach your organisation. This is CPI’s training framework – train-the-trainer – that turns employees into in-house behaviour leads.


The course is split into two areas:
  • The theory element of how staff can utilise a step-based approach to providing safer support for essential care, maximising independence and upholding dignity of the people in their care. This part will also provide an insight into the legal requirements regarding capacity and best-interest decisions.
  • Staff will learn the key principles of maximising safety whilst administering Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) including bathing, dressing, continence and other personal care.

Course Outcomes
  • Identify continuum of support available to use as alternatives to providing hands-on care.
  • Recognise the importance of the legal duty of care and best interest decisions when caring for individuals who lack capacity.
  • Develop confidence to overcome day-to-day challenges in assisting personal care activities.
  • Demonstrate safe intervention skills to minimise harm to all involved.
